Marine Surveying
It is a general misconception (outside of the
maritime industry) that Marine Surveying is concerned with hydrographic
surveying.
This is of course not the case, as Marine Surveyors are only concerned
with the ships and the cargoes carried. A marine surveyor generally
holds a Master Mariner or Chief Engineers Certificate of Competency
and has a wealth of experience in the carriage of cargoes by sea
and the problems that might be encountered. Such a surveyor should
not be confused with a cargo inspector, who is unlikely to have
any marine experience or qualifications.
If at any time you or your company as consignor / consignee / shipper
/charterer /or owner have concerns about a shipment Briar Maritime
is able to send a suitable representative to act on your behalf.
Marine Surveying covers an amazing array of services and types
of survey and we would urge a potential client to carefully assess
their choice of Marine Survey company as obviously each surveyor
has their own forté.
